This is a late scarce variation of a Colt Model 1848 Baby Dragoon revolver with a loading lever and roll-engraved stagecoach holdup scene on the cylinder. The top barrel flat is marked: "ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY" flanked by brackets, "COLT'S PATENT" is marked on the cylinder and stamped on the left side of the frame. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder, the cylinder pin has the partial number "698" and the wedge and loading lever "2698". The left side trigger guard shoulder is stamped with a small letter "G". Brass cone front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap, and casehardened remaining parts, and fitted with smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip. Writer has seen few of these and believes this to be correct.
