Late 18th to early 19th century pipe tomahawk. The head is of cast brass measuring approx. 6-1/2” from edge to tip of bowl. The blade measures approx. 1-7/8” across the blade. The blade is steel inset into brass. The head shows some light engraving in a floral pattern, some scratched initials which appear to be “IHL1”. The head shows a good patina, the shaft is striped maple and has been either refinished or replaced and shows an old silver band. The gasket was also removed when refinished and the stem is drilled and turned correctly. Once the shaft has been refinished it is impossible to determine originality however it has been smoked and shows irregular Indian-type drilling. The shaft measures 17-7/8” from end to end. From the Bernard Braverman Estate. Est: $700 - $1,400
