For your bidding pleasure is this Late 1800s Burt Brothers Copper Dovetail Kettle. The lid is crafted in a traditional fashion as is the way with the copper kettles of the 1860's, the handle of the lid is called a flared acorn handle. The goose neck is a style of spout that ends in an open mouth and set along the vertical dovetail joint on the body. This kettle was crafted by a company called the Burt Brothers in the late 1800's. This copper kettle shows a dovetail jointed bottom, and is commonly seen in higher end copper pieces. The handle of the kettle itself is called an English tapered handle and is hollow to reduce the heat absorption and is identifiable by the small hole in the front of the handle. This piece is marked with a BB with the second B backwards. The measurements of this kettle are 11" x 11" x 8 1/2".
