Included in this lot we have a original photograph of General Nelson A. Miles and Captain Frank Baldwin in Pine Ridge Agency. The photo shows the two military officers on horse back with a few soldiers on horses to the side with the photograph originating from the late 1800's during the American Indian wars. General Miles was one of the main leaders in the campaigns against Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse with Captain Baldwin serving as his chief of scouts. This black and white picture is marked across the front with "Capt. Baldwin" Gen. N.A. Miles" Gen. Carr" and "Pine Ridge Agency S.D. Copyrighted". The Pine Ridge Agency also called Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is located in south Dekota and originally was included within the territory of the great Sioux Reservation created in 1889. The two officers both have served in the American Civil War, Indian Wars, The Spanish-American War, and Baldwin even served in the Colorado National guard during the first World War. Before this photo was taken Baldwin earned the rank of Captain due to his actions on the Red River located in Montana in 1876. This is a real original photograph of these American Officers. The photo comes with a plastic page protector. The photo shows some wear due to age and measures 6" wide by 4 1/2" tall.
