Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
26" Sterling silver necklace has three separate inlay pieces. The bottom centerpiece is a curved trapezoid that showcases a sun face, with inlay stone and shall of turquoise, malachite, lapis, spiny oyster, mother-of-pearl, jet and/or Onyx. The two side pieces are trapezium and share the same stones and shells as the center bottom. The 3 pieces hang on a ring and connector .925 chain with a spring ring closure. The bottom center piece measures 39 mm across, the bottom measures 17.3 mm across the top of the trapezoid and it is 32.7 mm tall. The two side piece are 24.8 mm across the bottom, 14.9 mm across top and the trapezium measures 50.5 mm long. The whole piece weighs 58.3 g and the bottom center piece is stamped Navajo LMY (Larry Moses Yazzie hallmark) Sterling.
