Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
Navajo artistry at its finest, this is a beautiful bear inlay with a sun face. Inlay is crafted out of several stones and shells, including but not limited to spiny oyster, malachite, lapis, mother-of-pearl, turquoise, jet and/or Onyx. Bear measures from nose to tail 60.9 mm x 35 mm from center back to bottom of feet. Cuff's interior measures 2.375" x 1.75" the opening is approximately 1 inch and the cuff weighs 57.9 g. Cuff signed by the artist, but is not stamped Sterling. NOTE: piece has been tested and is silver
