This is one of the famous J.C. Leyendecker designed American Lithographic Company posters. This is an original from 1917, not a reproduction. It became famous after thousands were distrusted throughout the country by the federal government to appealed to the emotions of citizens by organizing a campaign to sell liberty bonds to finance the huge expenditures of World War I. As with the same War Bond Drive for WWII, the campaign relied on celebrities and the Boy Scouts to pitch the sell. The poster was said to be responsible for an enormous outpouring of public support. This rare original framed poster for the "Third Liberty Loan Campaign Boy Scouts of America - USA Bonds -Weapons for Liberty" is approx. 21" x 31". It is linen backed and stretched. and comes from the Larry Hagman estate and hung in his home. Professionally appraised at $500.
