Large framed and triple matted hand-colored re-strike engraving from antique copper plates showing a scene of a military man, possibly a Musketeer, watering his animals while a serving maid of the manor looks on, overall size approx. 34” x 39” by noted English artist Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802-1873). Landseer led a fabled life as an artist from childhood and excelled particularly at creating images of animals; he was highly sought by patrons in both England and America including Queen Victoria who Knighted Landseer in 1850. This artist was particularly known for his renditions of dogs and the simple directness in which he portrayed them in the settings of his works. An exceptional, high quality piece that has been beautifully framed and would go nicely with the previous lot! Est.: $500-$1,000.
