Large bore flintlock pistol marked “Calderwood” on lock and “Dondall” on the barrel with Irish registration markings. The pistol measures 10 ¼” overall with 5 1/4” barrel of nearly .80 caliber smoothbore. By tradition Calderwood made arms for the Royal Mail coach guards to protect themselves from Highwayman. The pistol remains in good condition with a dark gray patina finish showing some minor scattered pitting and erosion. The hammer safety is missing or been removed. There is a small loss of wood at the top edge of stock near muzzle and otherwise the stock is good with normal aging. The flintlock parts are all correct. Est.: $600-$1,200.
