Large antique clip point Bowie knife by T. Tillotson & Co. with T. Tillotson & Co.-marked sheath, red Abels’ #16 on right side ricasso, approx. 14-1/2” overall with a 10” blade marked “T. Tillotson & Co. Columbia Place, Sheffield” on the left ricasso with a beautifully complete etching on the left side of the blade with the words “Hunters Companion”; six pinned horn scales with a plaque on the left scale; integral grip frame and cross guard. The knife is in overall very good to near fine condition with a spot of erosion at the tip of the blade and considerable original polish on the right side in addition to the previously mentioned majority of original etched panel on the left side of the blade. The sheath is in overall very good to near fine condition showing some scuffing on edges to the leather but very good design work on both sides including considerable original red and green paint coloring and two finely stamped original maker’s marks (one on each side, prominently in the middle of the sheath); metal tip and throat still present; a really great Tillotson with its correct sheath.
