Large German-style wood and metal tankard stein approx. 15-1/2” in height showing an oak body with metal liner, fancy handle and ornate metal overlays and metal lid. This really attractive older tankard is in overall good condition at time of description; bottom of stein is marked “Property of M. Gorton, Liederkranz”; also the name “Russell Sage” and “Nnte Friend” is engraved on the base metal overlay. Interestingly, insidethe metal liner is a typed information paper on Russell Sage (1816-1906) who was a New York capitalist and founder of a college for women and a foundation endowment.
