Manufactured Mid-18th century, this flintlock rifle has a rifled barrel that gauges at approximately .75 caliber. It is most likely of German origin and possesses many of the Jaeger rifle characteristics. The octagon, swamped muzzle barrel has a blade front sight and a notch rear sight. There are no maker markings. The lock plate and hammer feature a floral scroll engraving and the action has double set triggers. The side plate, buttplate, trigger guard and ramrod pipes are brass. The full length stock has a light scroll carved motif with wooden patch box (also featuring a raise carved motif), and a horn forend cap.

Serial Number: NSN
Condition: Fair. The barrel has a smooth dark brown patina with even minor pitting (some deeper pitting is present near the muzzle). The hammer and lock plate have a mottled gray patina and upper tang is discolored from old reloading. The brass has a mixed aged patina with a darker patina on the loose ramrod pipes (middle pipe has some missing material). The trigger guard has been repaired. There are a few repairs, otherwise the wood is good with some minor handling marks, a series of notches near the stock toe, and a few cracks along the grain of the buttstock. Action needs work.
