Large 1976 Canadian Moose Antler Mount - 53 1/2
For your consideration is this large, Canadian moose antler mount taken on September 1st, 1976. The largest member of the deer family and a well-known representative of Canada's wildlife is the Canadian moose, or Alces, in scientific terms. Bulls are adult males who can reach heights of 6.5 to 7.5 feet at the shoulder and weights of 1,200 to 1,600 pounds. From the eastern coast to the western provinces, the Canadian moose can be found all over the country. Additionally, they live in the country's northern regions, which include Alaska and some of the northern Rockies. Moose are typically solitary creatures, with the exception of the rut, or mating season, which takes place in late September to early October. The antlers of the bulls are a status symbol and a sign of dominance. The mount has an unofficial scoring from Boone And Crockett Club, scoring at 150 4/8. The antlers have been placed on a large, polished wood plaque which features a gold colored metal plaque at the bottom reading, "Bob's Canadian Moose / 53 1/2" / September 1st, 1976". Where the antlers connect in the center, there is a purple felt covering the antler mount with a gold braided ribbon surrounding the outside. The antlers and mount show good condition overall with some slight wear to the wood plaque but no obvious signs of damage are noted on the antlers. The moose mount measures 42 1/4" high by 53 1/2" wide and 21" deep.*
