The lot features a skull cracker stone head war club attributed to the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The war club shows a hard wood thin haft with rawhide covered surface that is sinew sewn. The top portion of the haft shows a wonderful geometric trade seed beaded design in chalk white, red white hearts, semi-transparent dark blue, light blue, semi-transparent dark red and pony chalk white. The head of the club shows a smooth heavy stone that is wrapped in a parfleche rawhide cover and sinew / trade thread sewn. Both the top and bottom of the handle shows trade stroud clothe of blue and red with the base of the club having a heavy drop of light brown horse hair. Overall the piece appears to have an early style of construction with little wear and good condition, age unknown. Without the length of the horsehair drop, the war club measures 24" long, 2 5/8" wide, and 1 1/2" thick.
