General statement :
The Van's RV-9 and the Van's RV-9A are single-engine, low-wing, two-seat home built kit aircraft. The RV-9 has tail wheel equipment and the RV-9A has a nose-wheel. The RV-9 was designed to be a touring aircraft unlike the rest of the RV series, giving up the aerobatic capabilities and lighter handling creating more stability. The empty weight of the aircraft is 1,028 lbs and the gross weight is 1,600 lbs. The cruise speed is 143 kts, the stall speed is 38 kts, the maximum speed is 150 kts and the range for the aircraft is 1,025 miles. The RV-9A uses one Lycoming O-235 engine with two-bladed fixed pitch propellers.
The RV-9 is also the start of Van's attempts to reduce construction time. The aircraft comes with matched-hole components that are formed to the right contour and the rivet holes are all precisely located. Assembly jigs are not needed to build this craft.

Family state Mr Hammond was a certified approved airplane mechanic .'
He did all the work to this plane himself. However at this point auction company CAN NOT supply a certificate of air worthiness.
Mr. Hammond kept all his records at his barn office , at the farms
100's of miles from his home in Cleveland. None of the family had access or did he have a reason to share these.
