This is one of 842 Crown Grade shotguns manufactured circa 1919. The top of the right barrel is engraved "L.C. SMITH Crown GRADE" and the top of the left barrel is engraved "MADE TO ORDER BY THE HUNTER ARMS Co. INC. FULTON, N.Y.". The sides of the barrels have wedges of floral scroll engraving. The jeweled bottom flat of the barrels is marked "RE17059/C". The right side plate is engraved with two dogs in a grassy field scene with floral scroll and rose bouquet around it. The left side plate has two dogs pointing in a grassy field scene with trees in the background and floral scroll with rose bouquet around it. The top of the break lever has a gold inlaid crown, the "S" for safe is inlaid in gold and there is a gold inlaid band towards the rear of the rib. Mounted on a nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with red rubber recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. With a Beretta cloth covered hardcase with leather end protectors.

Condition: Professionally refurbished, 95% blue finish remains on the barrels and trigger guard/lower tang with some high edge wear, scattered minor scratches and a couple minor dings. The casehardened components retain strong traces of case colors with a silvery gray patina on the balance. Half of the front bead is absent. The refinished wood is very good with a small tight hairline crack at the rear of both side plates, scattered minor scratches and scattered minor dings. The recoil pad has hardened and deformed from age. The case is very good with some wear and stains.
