Koto period wakasashi or medium-size Japanese handmade sword in storage case dating more than 400 years old in very good condition. The blade shows a very good temper which extends all the way around the tip. The blade is in nice condition with a couple of minor scratches and one area of exposed core of the steel (a kizu or flaw) about 4” back from the tip and about 4 mm in size. The tang is unsigned and shows dark rust. The blademeasures 16 ¼” across the edge. A very old and good quality family sword. Est.: $600-$1,200.
