Koto era wakasashi or medium-size Japanese handmade samurai sword in traditional mountings. The blade dates 1450 to 1550 and is unsigned and in need of polish. Blade measures 17 ½” across the cutting edge. Thesteel shows some pitting and small areas of exposed core. The sword shows good-quality mountings with a fancy cast Tsuba. The mounts match well and the sword shows a good wrap on handle with cast brass menuki. The smallkozuka knife is missing. The lacquered scabbard is good with some small losses and areas of slight damage. Out of a local World War II veterans estate. Est.: $500-$1,500.
