Featured in this lot we have a large custom framed Kevin Red Star lithograph titled "First Snowfall on Rock Creek Valley" with certificate of Authenticity. Red Star was born in 1943 on the Crow reservation in south east Montana. He was born into a creative family and found painting and art at an early age. In the late 1960's he was chosen to be in the first group of students accepted into the Institute of American Indian Arts located in Santa Fe. He has since become a well known artist known for his paintings of Native Americans that are sought after by collector and gallery alike. This lithograph is a rare edition to Red Star's popular tipi series. The original was painted as a gouache giving it a distinctive look. This painting features three tipis on snow covered ground with a blizzard raging overhead. The piece is painted in contrasting colors of dark blue and white with lighter blue to give depth. The piece is signed in the bottom right hand side by Kevin Red Star and is marked "A/D" on the bottom left corner. The piece is set into a custom wood frame with a light grey/blue border around the art. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity from Kevin Red Star Studio with the title and image of the art and authenticating that it was hand numbered and signed by Red Star. The piece shows very good condition and shows new quality. The frame measures 33" wide by 39 1/4" tall with the art measuring 23" wide by 29" tall.
