Featured in this lot is this hand beaded metal vase from Sioux artist Kathleen Kills Thunder. The vase is constructed from a metal core that shows inlaid mother of pearl to the neck of the vase and shows hand beaded design with geometric patterns and shows beads such as chalk white, black, translucent pink, medium red, orange, yellow, and light blue. The piece was made by Kathleen Kills Thunder (her legal name) and was born in 1947 in Seattle Washington. Her father, Ben Kills thunder was a Sioux Indian from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Northeast Montana. Her mother was Spanish / Irish. Kathy grew up shuttling back and forth between Seattle and the Colville Indian Reservation in Northeast Washington. Kathy has been painting and beading since she was six. She uses a bright color-palette and prodigious imagination in creating her painted and beaded work. Kathy currently lives in Southeast Arizona and raises buffalo when she is not pursuing her artistic endeavors. The condition of this metal pottery vessel is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this metal pottery vessel is 5" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".
