KOISHIKAWA ARSENAL BABY NAMBU SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.
Cal. 7mm Nambu. S# 930. Bbl. 3 1/4" w/ dovetailed inverted V sight. 7mm Nambu type pistols referred to as “Baby” by collectors. Approx. 6,500 mfg. 1903-1929. First grouping mfg. 1903-1923 by Tokyo's Koishikawa Arsenal w/in S# range 1-5899. Later production by Tokyo & Gas Electric 1923-1929 numbered 5900-6450. Matching numbered border checkered walnut grips, bolt & cocking piece. Multi-circled Koishikawa symbol over chamber. Right rear of slide has 3 Japanese characters reading “Nambu Type”. MAGS: 1 very good matching numbered 7 rd. w/ aluminum base having checkered dimples, light marks on bottom; light scratches & very slight finish bubbling on body. CONDITION: very good overall appearance. Area of faint pitting on right rear half of frame and receiver; similar appearance to left side but to lesser degree; mostly on spring tube. Very fine pinprick oxidation and slight high point wear on balance of pistol; matte appearing backstrap. Good straw colors on trigger w/ gray toned face. Near excellent appearing strawed extractor. Faded mottled appearance to right side of mag. release. Good grips w/ abundant hand wear & sm. chips at top front of left. Near excellent bore plus bolt face & chamber have appearance of being unfired. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (23-69/NW). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
