Joseph Henry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, manufactured a limited number of flintlock military pistols under government contract in 1807 and 1808. He also sold to state militias of which this specimen is. The total number of pistols Henry actually completed is not known. The lock has a pointed tip, an integral rounded flashpan with high fence marked "J HENRY" ahead of the hammer. There is a recessed "P" on the left rear of the barrel. Hickory ramrod with a swelled tip, brass trigger guard and mounted with a full replacement walnut stock with "236" stamped on the underside by the trigger guard.

Condition: Good as reconverted back to flintlock configuration. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and remain bright with some minor pitting on the barrel and lock. The stock is excellent with only a few very minor dings. The action is fine.
