John Martz Prototype 1900 American Eagle Navy Luger, #18186, 9mm, 6'' barrel, rust blue finish with straw small parts, beautifully executed borderline checkered circasian walnut grip panels, and one bright magazine with similarly grained ringed walnut base. American eagle to chamber, DWM to toggle, and ''Germany'' stamped just beneath serial number to front of frame. Pistol additionally features grip safety, two-position rear sight, with left receiver sight marked ''Martz/1900 American Eagle/Prototype Navy No. 1''. John V. Martz is a well-known early modifier of Lugers who was active from the late 1960s thru the 1990s. He passed away in 2013. During his heyday, many of Martz's custom Lugers graced the covers of Guns magazine and are noted for their incredibly high quality, fit and finish. Condition is excellent with only the lightest possible marks from handling. Grips and action are crisp, bore is mirror bright, with matching takedown lever, and sideplate numbered 418 to bottom edge.
