For your consideration are Four (4) Mid-20th Century Offset Lithographs of John James Audubon's Lithograph Plates, "Louisiana Hawk", "American Water Ouzel", "Spruce Grouse", and, "Wild Turkey". The lithograph prints are from the Collection of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, "Drawn from Nature" by J. J. Audubon and Published by John J. Audubon, F,R,S. F, L., S. Engraved, Printed & Coloured by R. Havell. There were five different editions published by John James Audubon and his sons in the 19th century. The original Havell edition prints were all skillfully hand-colored by highly experienced artists in the printing shop. John James Audubon was a French-American artist, naturalist, and ornithologist notable for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds and for his detailed illustrations, which depicted the birds in their natural habitats. His major work, a color-plate book titled, "The Birds of America", considered one of the finest ornithological works ever completed. These lithographs are in good overall condition with some slight visible creases from normal handling. No other obvious marring noted. Each measures 21"L x 16"W.*
