Jessica Zemsky, gouache, Joe Meek, Friend of the Prince Maximillian, NWR 1980, 40" x 30", framed. Zemsky had gifted this painting to Governer Ted Schwinden.
Zemsky, Jessica. 1923- . Born in New York. Live(d) in Big Timber, Montana. Graduated Pratt Institute of Art. Known for genre portrait, children, and still life. Published illustrator. Her paintings are held in private collections and museums worldwide. A hired hand (Brad__) from the Hamlett Ranch supposedly posed for the painting in his blackpowder garb for the gouache painting, Joe Meek. Zemsky gave the painting to Montana Gov. Ted Schwinden as a gift. The painting then sold to Scotty Zion at the Montanans for Schwinden/Turman Art Auction, benefitting their political campaign. Zemsky later told Zion the painting was a gift; not intended for an auction. The purchase of the painting includes Schwinden’ s personally written letter of invitation to Scotty Zion, the original auction purchase ticket, and coin from the 1985 Governor’s Inaugural Ball.
