Japanese matchlock circa 1650-1850. 47-1/2” overall, 33” medium weight octagon barrel, typical brass mounts, lock shows small stamp, possibly of Shogun or maker. The barrel shows light to moderate pitting and erosionin a dark patina. The pan protector is hand-made out of wood and an old replacement from the original brass. The wood is good with some wear around the band era and some small losses there. Generally good overalland the lock may be identifiable. Approx. .56 caliber smoothbore, no ramrod. These Japanese matchlocks didn’t change from the 17th to mid 18th century and are impossibly to date as unmarked. Est: $600- $1,200
