Japanese World War II era Officer’s sword in traditional samurai style with military mountings and makers signed on the tang with Arsenal stamp also. The blade is in good to very good condition showing a bumpy temperline similar to the earlier moon over Fuji style. There is some light erosion towards the forward 12” but still at least very good plus to near fine and would clean nicely. The mounts are in good to very good conditionand there is a leather covering for the scabbard which is black lacquer beneath. The blade measures 25 ½” along the cutting edge and the sword is 37” overall. There is a blue and brown woven cord attached probably forMarine. A silk carrying bag is included which is Japanese made and of the correct period from one of San Diego’s oldest collectors estate who purchased directly from GI’s returning from World War II and who collected only until the 1960s.
