26 plate black lacquered Tetsu (Iron) Suji Bachi helmet, raised ribs where plates join, each plate is connected with five hammered rivets, overall shape is known as akoda-nari due to its resemblance to the akoda, a squash-like fruit. The Tehen (Central top piece) is four layered, and the Mabisashi (Visor) has the traditional red lacquer on the underside (Chipped). Has Haraidate, fore crest holder with crescent shaped Haraidate attached. Shikoro (neck protector) has six leather plates (Lames) closely secured with pairs of blue laces in the Sugake style, No Fukigayeshi,. This type of ridged helmet was worn by upper-class samurai beginning in the Muromachi period (1392–1573). Chinstrap & liner. present. Overall good condition with cracked/chips to the lacquer.
