Japanese Murata Type 22 bolt action rifle (Model 1889), 8x53Rmm cal., 29-1/2” barrel with 8 round tubular magazine, wood stock, #15417 in overall fair to good un-cleaned condition showing a dark patina and scattered spots of surface rust from long storage; good bore, action and markings; wood stock shows old crack on right side at wrist and left side below receiver; sharp cartouche on left side of butt stock; would greatly benefit from a careful cleaning and oiling; the standard issue rifle for the Japanese forces in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894.
