Japanese Arisaka Type 38 bolt-action military rifle, 6.5mm cal., 31-1/2” barrel, military blue finish, full mum and Japanese characters present; sling swivels, dust cover, cleaning rod, bayonet, metal scabbard and leatherfrog, and brass muzzle cover, #28636. According to consignor, this rifle was taken from the body of a Japanese sniper on Leyte in the South Pacific during WW II by his brother, Bob Mathis. The gun is in overallvery good condition showing considerable military finish, dust cover shows old cleaning and loss of finish, very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings; overall good wood stock with “R.B. Mathis” stamped intoleft side of stock in front of the trigger assembly; bayonet, scabbard and leather frog are overall good. Est.: $400-$800.

We are open Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Little John's will be closed the Friday after the auction. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
