James Purdey under-lever side by side 12ga blackpowder exposed hammer shotgun in its original case showing trade label in lid bearing Oxford St address. Serial #7354. The gun shows 29” barrels and remains in verygood condition with 75-85% tobacco brown finish on barrels with good Damascus pattern, just some drifting at the edges and normal aging and wear. The action shows 30-40% case hardening drifting to silvery grey with somesmall areas of erosion and light pinprick pitting. The action and lockplates are nicely banknote scroll engraved with fine scroll engraving on tang and patent marking in oval. The triggerguard shows 30-40% original blue. The stocks are good with even wear, slight smoothing to checkering, original buttplate is retained showing 30% blue finish. The stock measures 14-1/2”. The action is tight, the bores are very good and still bright. The gun is Open choked. The case is in very good plus condition showing just some slight discoloration and staining with a full trade label and loading information penned on the label. The case is constructed of oak with
