, double woven, featuring alternating rows of red, blue, beige and olive, with floral and sunbursts and a border of birds, 62"x75", made by Samuel Heppert of Elizabeth, Pa. in 1836, (initials "S.H." in corner). Condition: extra fine, shows some wear. Note: J.M. Jacquard, French, 1752-1834, inventor of the loom with endless belt of cords punched with holed, arranged to produce a figured weave, adapted by American weavers early/mid 19th. C. (Webster's)
