For your consideration in this lot is a J. Stevens A. & T. CO., Ideal Number 44, Falling Block Rifle, chambered in .22 LR (long rifle) caliber. The firearm originates from as early as 1896, until 1916. The rifle uses a blue'd 24" half octagon and have round turned barrel, and a case hardened receiver. Contrasting the beautiful finish is a walnut fore-grip and butt-stock. Lastly, the rifle utilizes a 19th Century 2041 marked brass and iron tip up adjustable peep sight mounted to the rear tang and accompanied with a Lyman two-option tip up fixed front sight. The rifle is marked in numerous places, reading; "J. Stevens A. & T. CO. - Chicopee Falls, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. APR.17.94" on the top of the barrel, "22. L.R." on the left side of the barrel, and "41284" on the barrel in front of the fore-grip, and on the under-tang. Overall, the rifle shows good condition, with a smooth action, and much fo the original factory blue finish and coloring retained, but signs of its antique age and use. The rifle shows a strong bright bore. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 41284. These rifles are very accurate boasting a heavy bull barrel and single shot receiver.
