Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
Sterling kite shaped earrings have a black onyx inlay divided down the center with a narrow inlaid stripe of a six stone. Inlay center stripe appears to have turquoise, malachite, coral, among others. Earrings are approximately 29.9 mm tall x 23.6 mm at the widest point of the kite. Earrings weigh approximately 2.5 g each, make an approximate combined weight of 5 g. They are stamped sterling and have the initial J for the artist's hallmark, (we cannot identify the silversmith is there are at least five individual artists that use a single J for their hallmark).
