J. Purdey and Sons Best Quality full sidelock ejector, double barrel SxS shotgun in 20 gauge engraved by Geoffrey Casbard, serial number 27658. An email from Purdey to our consignor documents the following; 20gauge,completed December 1969, large scroll and game scenes by Geoffrey Casbard, double trigger,straight grip, 26” barrels, 2 ¾” chambers, matted rib, choked improved cylinder and modified, original weight 5 lbs. 7 oz., original stock length 12 ½” including leather pad. ***Note butt stock is now 14 ½” and was either restocked by Purdey or London quality gunsmith as it appears authentic and without the factory information our expertJim Thynne of Ivory Beads would not have even questioned it.***. The gun is contained in its original Purdey case with information and serial number in the lid. The barrels retain 80% to 90% original blue that is drifting on the right edge of the barrel and there is some minor loss from rubbing 3” forward of the breech which extends for approximately 2” and is approximately ¾” wide. The balance of blue is very good plus with good sharp edges
