J.G. Bolen’s “Life and Property Preservers” advertised pepperbox pistol marked “Allen’s Patent, 1837” on the bar hammer and cased with accessories. This pistol remains in near fine condition showing 60%-80% original blue that isdrifting toning evenly. The recoil shield shows etching and most of its original blue. The barrel is marked “Allen & Thurber, Worchester” with early profile grips and “spangles”. The grips are about fine and the hammer shows most of its brightblue. Some storage type minor scratches and some minimal aging. The original casing is also near fine with full picture label. An original leather covered plunger flask, mold, rod, compartment cover and key are all included. The lining is just slightly faded with few impressions. The bottom of the case also shows pictorial advertising. A rare and desirable early American pepperbox revolver. (Antique) Est.: $4000-$8000
