This is an original San Ildefonso Black on Black pot made by Isabel Pena in the late 19th to early 20th Century. She was Maria Martinez's aunt and mentor in the San Ildefonso Pueblo in New Mexico. The pot shows a wonderful decorative band near the top that extends all the way around . The piece shows good overall condition with moderate wear near the top. The bottom of the pot has been signed by the artist. The pot measures 6.5" in diameter and is 5.5" tall.
