Irbit Motor Works Ural M72 Sidecar Motorcycle with Accessories
Originally introduced as a Soviet military motorcycle in the early 1940s, the M72 was designed using tooling and blueprints for the BWM R71 motorcycle, acquired while the Molotov/ Ribbentrop Pact was still in effect. After the war, the Irbit factory transitioned from military to civilian production, and eventually began exports. With the exception of several components bearing Cyrillic markings, the resemblance to a Nazi-era Wehrmacht sidecar bike is uncanny. Overall paint scheme is olive drab, with chrome wheels, handlebars and exhaust. Equipped with a Neval speedometer, with an odometer reading of "001684". The main seats are covered in textured rubber, with a handbar for the rear passenger, and the sidecar seat is upholstered in black leather, with a rubberized bottom and wooden footrest. Included with the bike is a black leather sidecar opening cover, spare wheel, spare gas tank, two entrenching tools, spare head cover and pistons, a pair of detachable metal covers, black leather roll-up toolkit with Soviet buttons, two helmets (one unmarked, possibly Russian or East German, the other a Nazi Luftschutz helmet) and a flyer and commemorative framed photo from the Rats Hole 1994 Sturgis Custom Chopper Show.
