Interesting walking stick with concealed Flintlock pistol in rear compartment and antler front end which could also be used as a weapon or spear. The stick measures 44-1/4”, the first 25-1/2” are horn, themiddle section is 8” constructed of turned wood that is painted. The top section is 10-3/4” of turned thin brass. The top is removed by squeezing two spring latches and pulling backwards exposing a small Flintlockpistol marked “Stevens, London”. The pistol portion measures 4-7/8” with a 2-3/8” barrel of approx 36 cal smooth bore. The pistol is very well made and shows a straight line design and was not altered but made this wayto slip into a cane. The entire mechanism is only 1-1/4” in height. The pistol and its reinforcing bars that hold it to the grip are nicely engraved. The condition is good to very good overall. From an old N.Y.collector’s estate. Est.;$1,500-$3,000.
