Interesting untouched Tower percussion musket with bayonet, US leather cartridge box with metal inserts and partial leather belt with brass US buckle and consignor’s family history purporting history of gun to CivilWar participant Andrew Knapp, Private of Co. B, 79th PA Infantry. The gun is .60 cal., with a 39” barrel, heavy brown patina on all metal surfaces and scattered pitting, particularly around the firing area; goodaction, dark bore, two sling swivels, iron cleaning rod, brass butt plate, lock plate marked “1862” and “Tower” with crown behind the hammer; wood stock has a great patina and shows a very old and worn loss near themiddle barrel band that very possibly could have been from a hit by a bullet; the wood butt stock particularly shows better than usual tiger stripe graining. The bayonet matches the condition and patina of the rifle and the leather pouch and partial belt are in fair, untouched condition. Paperwork with the consignment includes an old envelope that has written in the top right corner “Bought Summer of 1932 by F. D. Arciaga while at
