Interesting set of double barrel 410 gauge exposed hammer shotguns by Watson and Jeffrey. The guns are contained within a period luggage type case with “Watson Bros. Old Bond St., London” dealers trade label in lid showing Watson’s appointment to “The Sultan of Turkey”. Gun #1: Marked Watson Bros. on locks and barrels and engraved sleeved by J. Roberts and Son, London. Shows 3-1/4” and later British proofs for smokeless powder originally black powder proofed for 2-1/2” shells. The gun measures 44 1/4” overall with 27-7/8” barrels, weighs only 4 pounds, 10 ounces and measures 14” to end of wood from front trigger and nearly 15” to end of hard rubber pad with two spacers. The barrels show approx. 90% toning old English re-finish with slight losses. Locks and frame have drifted to grey-brown. Stock has been professionally re-freshed. Locks up tight and bores are bright. Shows just minor use since professional restoration possibly by J. Roberts when modernized, serial #1751. Gun #2: Marked S. R. Jeffrey on both locks and S.R. Jeffrey, Guildford on barrel. Barrels measure 26” and gun 42-1/2” overall; 14-1/4” from front trigger to end of wood and 14-7/8” to end of checkered horn butt
