Interesting lot consisting of a U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 bolt-action rifle, #291491, with bayonet and scabbard with hand written note dated June 28, 1989, indicating prior ownership by William F. Gall and a hand carved wooden cane made by Mr. Gall and a copy of an article describing Mr. Gall’s handiwork; also included is a copy of Mr. Gall’s Silver Star Certificate awarded for Gallantry in Action on 10 October 1918.The gun itself is in overall good condition showing traces of military blue finish, fair bore, 24-1/2” barrel dated 3-10, sling swivels present, stock is fair to good with some old repairs at the wrist and an old loss at the top of the wrist behind the top of the receiver, scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage, leather sling; Remington 1918 dated bayonet in overall good condition, leather scabbard isalso good; frog is missing top half; hand carved cane is approx. 39” overall and dated 1968 and references Mr. Gall’s name and Silver Star award and WW I service, 1917-1919; a really neat lot!
