Interesting hand-made prototyped gallery pistol patterned after the Remington vest-pocket pistol. Traces of a case-hardened finish. Barrel measures 5-1/2”. The pistol measures 3-3/4” from the top of frame tobottom of grip and is .22 caliber smoothbore. The pistol was never completed as there is no breech and the hammer would not strike a cartridge. The overall workmanship is that of a tool-room prototype, somewhat rough. There is a coil spring which the hammer depresses when pushed down on a plunger type basis. There is no name and markings. The grips are very similar to Remington and the overall appearance is of the 19th century and wouldhave been a practical idea for a single-shot gallery pistol for indoor shooting with a man-sized grip. A real curiosity worth researching. Est: $350 - $700
