Interesting early Model 1873 U.S. Springfield trapdoor rifle, .45 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, full wood stock, iron ramrod, sling swivels, #9604. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing an even brown patina on the barrel with scattered erosion and pin prick pitting, strong markings, case hardening gone to brown and silvery on the lock plate; good action, fair to good bore, overall good wood with circle “P” cartouche and sharp oval “EA” inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger; wood is overall good with scattered nicks, mars and scratches from years of carry and storage and what appears to be period stamping “1st REGT” on the underside of the stock in front of the trigger guard; bears further research. Est.: $1,200-$1,600.
