Interesting Western ensemble consisting of Smith & Wesson New Model number 3 single action in .44 Smith & Wesson caliber showing brown patina finish and aged ivory grips with capital X I T brand stamped on the butt. The revolver shows a dark brown patina with well-aged ivory that shows cracks and some losses. The barrel address is worn off from being carried in a heavy holster which was handmade and very attractive with Western flavor showing a wide skirt. Also included is a 4 ¼” wide leather bronco busting type belt with a large brass buckle overlaid in silver colored letters X I T. The belt shows large brass conchos and initials O.M. who by collectors tradition was a cowboy on the famous Western X I T ranch. Also a pair of Texas style spurs that are forged iron and silver inlaid with X I T initials on the straps. Contained within an old carrying case or grip with large X I T painted on it. A very attractive and interesting set owned by William O’Brien foreman of X I T and purchased in the 1960s by Kennedy. Well pictured in Gale Kennedy’s collection book. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $5,000 -$10,000.
