Interesting U.S. Springfield Model 1871 Rolling Block single shot military rifle, .52 cal., 36” barrel, brown finish, case hardened receiver, wood stocks with sharp inspector’s cartouche on left side of buttstock at wrist, sling swivels, iron cleaning rod, top of iron butt plate stamped “US” and with a likely rack number of “37” also stamped. This gun is in overall good condition showing a brown patina on thebarrel and silvery toning to the receiver, good action, rough bore; full length fore end appears to be from another type of U.S. military longarm as the right side of that portion of the stock, at the breech end, hasa milled out area and filled screw hole; the replacement appears to be period however no further information is available concerning this conversion. Est.: $800-$1,600.
