Interesting English mid-19th century large bore carbine probably made for boar hunting showing very small back action lock with convertible hammer for percussion or pellet primer signed “Samuel Nock. The rifle measures 38 ¼” overallwith approximately .60 caliber rifled barrel. The lock measures only 3 ½” from end to end. The barrel shows a English brown and striped finish of which 50% to 70% remains. The mountings are nicely engraved and show a boar on the lock and aleopard on the trigger guard. The mounts have been polished and the edges and detail have gone soft. The rifle is mounted with double set triggers. The stock is checkered in plain wood in good condition with some minor cracks, dents and normal aging. The action works well and a brass tip ramrod of the period is included. There is a sling swivel missing from the trigger guard. A very unusual little British rifle that also shows Samuel Nock makers mark inlaid in silver at thebreech. Est.: $1250-$2500
