Often referred to as the "Baby Russian", this top-break, auto ejecting revolver is chambered for the Smith & Wesson 38 centerfire cartridge and was manufactured circa 1876-1877. The revolver is nickel plated, with a gold cylinder and casehardened hammer. The engraving pattern is typical Nimshke New York style with the pointed arrow down the barrel and floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the cylinder flats, top strap and frame. The back strap is inscribed "Alex C. Stevens" in a scalloped border panel. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates, with a simple line border, and the complete matching serial number is marked on the butt and cylinder, and the partial number "348" on the barrel latch, top strap under the latch. Five round cylinder, pinned blade front sight, notch rear sight, and fitted with smooth ivory grips.
