Indian matchlock combination battle axe and dagger with silver inlay and brass accents. Refer “Vari-Type Firearms” by F. Theodore Dexter featuring the Frank Biven’s Collection and “Blades and Barrels” by Gordon Frostpage 10 & 11. The weapon measures 22 1/2” overall and is approximately .45 caliber. The metal surfaces show considerable darkened silver inlay. The elephant head doubles as a pommel for the dagger which screws into thebore. A small brass dog head is mounted on the top of the ram rod. Condition is good to very good and uncleaned. A brass collection tag number 1163 is attached and is type used by Biven’s. This original matchlock wasviewed by Ron Mac Wille who used it as a pattern for modern copies in the 1950’s. From an old N.Y. Collector’s Estate. Est.; $1,500-$3,000
