Impressive suit of officer’s grade black and white armor in Nuremberg style representing the period of 1590 to 1650. This armor shows quality forging and metal handwork but under close examination by an expert we have determinated it to be 19th-century probably made in one of the famous European master workshops by Spitzer or other museum quality armorer. Armor was rare even 150 years ago and several firms and master craftsmen created Museum quality suits of armor and decorated firearms to adorn the Great Halls and Castles of Europe. Armor, swords and anything made of metal was the 1st product to be actively to be recycled and very few suits of armor existed even 150 years ago. This is an antique suit that is extremely well-made but not made during the period it represents as the majority in collections and museums are not. This suit shows good straps and is well mounted but has a light coating of surface rust that would clean easily with steel wool and oil. Est.: $8,000 -$16,000.
